Albert Lea Boys Cross Country team heading to State for 2nd year in a row, Section 1AA Champions

The Albert Lea Boys Cross Country team edged Winona by a point, to win the Section 1AA Meet Thursday at Bancroft Bay Park in Albert Lea.  Top 2 teams go to State, so both the Tigers and Winhawks advance to the State Meet on Saturday November 5th at St Olaf College in Northfield

Senior Gavin Hanke took 2nd in the event, with a time of 16:37. Junior Isaiah McGaffey took 7th with a time of 17:23.  Freshman Ty Stout in 12th with a time of 17:42, Senior Pacey Brekke in 14th with a time of 17:45.  Senior Luke Wangsness in 25th place with a time of 18:22.  Wangsness edged a runner from Winona at the end, and because of that, it propelled Albert Lea to the one point victory

On The Girls Side, Albert Lea took 9th place out of 11 teams, with Waseca taking first and Faribault 2nd, both teams advancing to State.  For Albert Lea, Senior Jaira Maligaya took 24th with a time of 21:40, Elle Schultz 27th with a time of 21.46, Alizay Kratz 35th with a time of  22:05, Lola Hansen 55th place with a time of 23:30, and Illa Bolinger 64th with a time of 24:40.
