Albert Lea Softball wins home opener against Worthington (Listen back to broadcast)
The Albert Lea Softball team opened up the home portion of their schedule with a 9 to 1 win over Worthington on Thursday at the Hammer Complex in Albert Lea. Albert Lea struck for 3 in the first inning, which included a triple by Kristina Espinoza that scored two. Up 3-1 in the 5th, Espinoza would strike again with a double that scored 2, part of a 3 run 5th to put Albert Lea up 6-1. Tigers would add 3 more in the 6th. Espinoza was named the Albert Lea Bus Company Player of the game, going 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and a run scored. Mackenzie Johnson got the win on the mound, going all 7 innings, allowing 1 run off of 9 hits, striking out 4 and walking 0. Tigers had no errors, while Worthington had 5. Albert Lea is now 1-2 and will host Faribault on Monday
