(Story for Head Coach Dan Schmidt) Ball movement was some of the best we’ve seen all year, as well our ability to attack the basket, and get some good looks at the basket due to that.  Defensive effort was pretty good all night long.  We rebounded really well as a team, and shot much better from the floor than we probably have all season. Daxter Lee – 26 points (led all scorers), 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, Will Tuttle – 17 points, 12 rebounds, Sam Olson – 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists

Girls Basketball

Rochester John Marshall 67, Albert Lea 66  Tigers are now 1-17

(Story from Head Coach Dr. Jodi Schultz) Albert Lea Girls Basketball played John Marshall tonight in what can only be called a classic barn burner.    The Tigers went into halftime down 33-37 but quickly came back to tie the game 39-39 with 15:42 left in the second half.   The lead switched hands multiple times until the Tigers led the game at 60-53 with 5 minutes left in the half.   From there, though, the JM girls outscored the Tigers 14-2 over the next 4 minutes which gave them the lead 62-67 with one minute remaining.   Naveah Wacholz brought the Tigers to within 3 points with a pair of free throws.  The Tigers had the ball back after a JM turn over and an offensive rebound with a put back by senior Kendall Kenis brought the Tigers within one point with 9 seconds to go. A foul by the Tigers brought JM to the freethrow line with 2.4 seconds remaining.   JM missed the shot and a jump ball gave the ball back to the Tigers with 1.0 second to go.    Naveah Wacholz completed a half court pass to Kendall Kenis who had the shot at the buzzer but it was missed.   The Tigers were led by senior Kendall Kenis with 28 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds.   Naveah Wacholz had another double double with 15 points,  10 rebounds and 9 assists and senior Jai Maligaya added 12 with four assists.
