Fatal Crash
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office was called to a one vehicle crash at 7:31pm on
08/27/2020. Initial reports indicated two people fell out of a car. Upon arrival deputies
found it to be a one vehicle crash with multiple victims. It was determined the vehicle, a
2002 Ford Taurus was traveling south on 795th Ave by the Glenville pool when it left the
roadway and hit a tree. The vehicle contained 5 occupants. Two occupants were
ejected from the vehicle. Responders provided life saving measures to both ejected
passengers. James Joseph Amarosa III of Albert Lea (DOB 02/2003) was pronounced
dead on the scene. The second ejected passenger Cameron Michael Cunningham of
Twin Lakes (DOB 11/2004) was flown out by Mayo One Helicopter with life threatening
injuries. Two other passengers sustained minor injuries. Shelby Luv Watkins of Austin
(DOB 10/2000) and Chase Anthony Garza of Albert Lea DOB (09/2002). The Driver of
the vehicle, Dominik Nikko Boots-Ringoen of Albert Lea (02/2002) was arrested and
charged with Criminal Vehicular Homicide-Operate Motor Vehicle in Grossly Negligent
Manner, Criminal Vehicular Homicide-Operate Vehicle with Negligence-Under the
Influence of Alcohol, and Driving after Revocation. The crash is still under investigation
by the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office. The assisting agencies were the MN State
Patrol, Albert Lea Police Department, Glenville Fire, Mayo Ambulance and Mayo One
helicopter.
