Albert Lea 65, Northfield 60

Albert Lea Tigers took home a WIN against Northfield tonight!   The two teams paired up fairly evenly tonight with Northfield shooting 23 of 61 from the field and AL shooting 20 of 61 from the field.   Free throws won the game tonight.   The Tigers were led by senior Kendall Kenis who had 23 points, 5 assists and 4 steals.   Senior Jai Maligaya was close behind having 19 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals.   Sophomore Naveah Wacholz contributed a double double with 13 points ,11 rebounds and 5 steals while senior Kristina Espinosa added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Kendall Kenis reached a 1000 point milestone enroute to a Tiger 58-48 win over Faribault at home today.   As a senior Kenis has played on the varsity squad since her 8th grade year.   She started out slowly on her scoring career with only 130 points as an eight grader and 86 points as a freshman but picked up steam with 157 points her sophomore year and 276 points her junior year.   Going into this year she needed 351 points to reach this milestone and going into today’s game she needed 22 points.    Kenis finished the game today with 27 points to lead the team to their victory.   Kenis joins only 10 other past Tigers to reach this milestone in their high school careers.  Kenis has also set school records this year for the most 3 point shots made in a single game as well as the career 3 point shot record for the school.
