short, 19 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and
7 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were
rated 3 percent very short, 14 percent short,
75 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus.
Corn was at 18 percent silking, about 1 week behind
last year and the 5-year average. Corn condition was
1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 27 percent fair,
56 percent good, and 12 percent excellent. Soybeans
blooming or beyond reached 46 percent. Soybeans
setting pods reached 10 percent, 7 days behind last year
and 3 days behind the 5-year average. Soybean
condition was 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor,
33 percent fair, 53 percent good, and 9 percent
excellent.
Oats were 97 percent jointing, 81 percent headed, and
32 percent coloring. Oat condition was 1 percent very
poor, 4 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 52 percent good,
and 11 percent excellent. Spring wheat was 97 percent
jointing, 71 percent headed, and 11 percent coloring.
Spring wheat condition was 0 percent very poor,
0 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 65 percent good, and
6 percent excellent. Barley was 96 percent jointing,
67 percent headed, and 12 percent coloring. Barley
condition was 0 percent very poor, 1 percent poor,
45 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 5 percent
excellent.
Dry edible beans were 43 percent blooming. Dry
edible beans condition was 0 percent very poor,
1 percent poor, 36 percent fair, 55 percent good, and
8 percent excellent. Sunflower condition was
0 percent very poor, 0 percent poor, 16 percent fair,
79 percent good, and 5 percent excellent. Alfalfa hay
second cutting was at 53 percent.
Potato condition was 0 percent very poor, 0 percent
poor, 9 percent fair, 70 percent good, and 21 percent
