NASS MN Crop Progress

The first snowfall of the season, along with scattered
rain and hail, resulted in 3.9 days suitable for
fieldwork for the week ending October 29, 2023,
according to the USDA’s National Agricultural
Statistics Service. Fieldwork included manure and
chemical applications in addition to harvest and fall
tillage. Livestock continued to do well with no issues
reported.
Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 10 percent very
short, 22 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and
5 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were
rated 12 percent very short, 39 percent short,
47 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.
Corn harvested for grain reached 75 percent, 1 day
behind last year but 5 days ahead of the 5-year average.
Moisture content at harvest averaged 18 percent.
Soybean harvest reached 94 percent, 6 days behind last
year but 5 days ahead of the 5-year average.
Potatoes were 96 percent harvested, sugarbeet
harvest was complete at 100 percent, and sunflower
harvest reached 74 percent.
