Comments-The coaching staff is very happy with the competitive level of both  the boys and girls CC teams.  The boys and girls had a great off season with summer running and this work has paid off for the teams.  The coaching staff was pleased with how well the boys teams were able to continue the success they had from 2021 when they went to state. The boys ran with a purpose as we have the goal of going back to state.  At the meet were 6 teams that are in our section and we were able to defeat all  the section teams.
Boys-leading the way was the section 1AA champion from last year Gavin Hanke he won the meet with a time of 17:10, he is right on schedule of where the team needs him to be.  Following Gavin was Isaiah McGaffey who ran a powerful 4th place finish with a time of 17:56, in 3rd for the team in 9th place was Ty Stout with a time of 18:24.  The 4th runner for Albert Lea  was Andrew Tscholl in 17th place with a time of 19:21 and rounding out the top 5 for Albert Lea was Luke Wangsness in 19th place with a time of 19:23.
The boys ran with a purpose and wanted to show  the competition that they have goals that they want to accomplish, the boys are well on the way to doing this.  The meet was an excellent start to the season.
Girls-the girls were led by Jai Maligaya 18th place with a time of 23:50.  Jai had a great summer as she has put in the time and effort to continue to improve and she did this during the race.  Coming in second for the tigers was Elle Schulz.in 24th place with a time of 24:28.  Elle had a great race and continues to improve at each race.  Rounding out the 3 girls that ran for Albert Lea today was Mya Hanke in 39th place with a t time of 29:02.  The girls did a great job and with the help they will get later this season from our jr. high program, the coaching staff believes that the girls will improve.
