Tiger Boys Hockey wins season opener over Rochester Lourdes

The Albert Lea Boys Hockey team scored in the first period, and that held up, as the Tigers won their opener on Tuesday night 1-0 over Rochester Lourdes.  Junior Spencer Van Beek scored at the 10:02 mark of the first period, assisted by Senior Max Edwin to make it 1-0.  Rochester Lourdes Junior Goaltender, Xander Carter Kleven kept the Eagles in the game, making 33 saves.  Albert Lea would draw a major penalty with 3:15 to go in regulation.  The Eagles would skate 5 on 4, and eventually pull the goaltender in the final minute to skate 6 on 4, but could not tie the game up.  Senior Goaltender Dakota Jahnke made 20 saves and recorded the shutout to pick up the win in net.

Albert Lea is 1-0 and will head up North for a pair of games this weekend, traveling to Hibbing on Friday night to face Hibbing Chisholm and Saturday afternoon in Eveleth to face Rock Ridge
