Comments for Co Head Coach Jim Haney-The Albert Lea CC team had a strong day at St. Olaf.  St. olaf is where the state CC meet takes place and the coaching staff is encouraged by the performances by the Albert Lea runners.  We have told the runners that this location, St. Olaf is where you want to start and end your season in November.  We go to St. olaf because this is what the ultimate goal is, to reach the state level.  11 of 15 runners dropped time from last Tuesday in Austin.  The coaching staff is especially encouraged by this development as St. Olaf is a much more difficult course and had many more runners in the races. We still have work to do but the runners should be encouraged at the progress they are making.
Gavin Hanke ran an outstanding race and came in 41st place.  He handled himself well as he ran against some of the top runners in the state.  Each race you can see his confidence grow.  He will be a factor in future races.  The rest of the boys ran very well dropping time, now we need to keep moving that pack up to pass teams that are currently in front of Albert Lea.  We will continue to improve and be ready for the important races of the end of the season.
The girls were an incomplete team for this race, but the girls decreased their times and should feel good about the progress they have made already.  Jai Maligaya was in 99th place to lead the lady tigers which put her in the top 1/4 of the racers.
