USC Girls’ Golf Opens 2023 Campaign

The USC Rebel girls’ golf team participated in a non-conference golf meet on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Minn-Iowa Golf Course, near Elmore, on a pleasant spring day—finally.

In order to compete as a team, you must have at least 4 players and no more than 6 players.  There are 7 girls on the golf team, but some have very little experience, if any, so we are allowing them to develop further before asking them to play in competition.  That said, we had 3 girls competing in this meet, as individuals.

Sophomore Emma Heggen shot 55, good for 5th place out of 15 participants.

Although very nervous before the meet started, sophomore Karly Koehler relaxed and shot a very respectable 80, placing 11th overall.  This was a very good showing, especially considering this was her first ever high school golf meet.

Senior Paige Roberts seemed very calm as she participated in her first ever high school golf meet.  Nothing really seemed to faze her—she just kept plugging away at the course.  She finished right behind Karly, in 12th place, with a score of 82.

We are hoping to add a fourth player to our competitive roster in the near future, so we can compete as both a team and as individuals.

The USC individual scores are as follows:

Emma Heggen           55

Karly Koehler 80

Paige Roberts  82

USC’s next varsity girls’ golf meet will be a Gopher Conference meet at Riverview Golf Course, between New Richland and Ellendale, on Thursday, April 14th, starting at 4:30pm.  All Gopher Conference golf meets are free and open to the public, so all are welcome to attend.
