USC edges NRHEG in Baseball on Tuesday

It was a battle between two of the top teams in the Gopher Conference in Wells, as USC held off NRHEG 5-4. Panthers scored 1 in the top of the first to take 1-0 lead. USC would answer with 3 in the bottom of the first, including an RBI triple by Taybor Conley and a RBI basehit by Zale Bushlack.  USC would push the lead to 5-1, with two in 4th, both runners reached on walks and both scored with no hits in the inning. Panthers would cut the deficit back to two, with 2 in the 5th, RBI double by Andrew Phillips and a RBI single by Daxter Lee.  Panthers would get one more in the 6th to make it 5-4.  In the 7th, first two batters would reach, and both would move up to 2nd and 3rd, but NRHEG was unable to tie the game, as USC holds on for a 5-4 win.

With the Win NRHEG is now 7-1 in the Gopher, 12-2 overall.  NRHEG falls to 6-2 in the conference, 9-3 overall.  USC has two more conference games this week, if the Rebels win both they win the Gopher Conference title outright.
