Agriculture Secretary Vilsack to Travel to Florida
From Wednesday, March 8, through Friday, March 10, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to Florida. There, he will participate in a series of engagements highlighting the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to the nation’s farmers and ranchers by growing the economy from the bottom up and the middle out, investing in rural communities, combating the climate crisis, and more.
On Wednesday, Secretary Vilsack will participate in a plenary session of the Aspen Ideas: Climate event in Miami Beach. Hosted by the Aspen Institute, the event will feature global and local policymakers, scientific experts, corporate leaders, inventors and innovators, artists, young leaders, influencers, and engaged members of the public whose actions are critical to addressing the climate crisis. During the event, Secretary Vilsack will underscore how the U.S. Department of Agriculture is working to not only combat the climate crisis through transformative initiatives and investments like the 10-Year Wildfire Crisis Strategy, Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities and the Inflation Reduction Act, but also transition rural America to a “circular economy” – one where the wealth and opportunities created in rural America stay there.
On Thursday, Secretary Vilsack will address the 2023 National Pork Industry Forum in Orlando. Secretary Vilsack will highlight USDA’s efforts to support the nation’s pork producers by creating new, more, and better markets, combating the spread of costly swine diseases, and more.
On Friday, Secretary Vilsack will deliver keynote remarks at the 2023 Commodity Classic in Orlando. During his remarks, he will highlight how USDA is working to create more, new, and better markets; increase competition, lower costs, and add value; and create new revenue streams for producers and their communities.
