MN Crop Progress

Above normal temperatures and very little precipitation provided Minnesota with 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending November 19, 2023, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Fall fieldwork included row crop harvest, tillage, and cornstalk baling. Livestock were doing well with no issues reported. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 9 percent very short, 26 percent short, 60 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 12 percent very short, 35 percent short, 50 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Corn for grain harvest was virtually complete at 97 percent, just 1 day behind last year but 1 week ahead of the 5-year average. Moisture content at harvest averaged 17 percent.
