Albert Lea Girls Golf falls to Northfield, Tigers and Raiders tied for Big Nine lead heading into Conference tournament

(Story by Head Coach Shawn Riebe)

The Albert Lea Girls Golf Team played a dual today against Northfield at Wedgewood Cove.  The Tigers lost the dual by two strokes which would have clinched the big9 title.  We shot our best round of the season  by 9 strokes firing a 328,  but it wasn’t quite enough to top Northfield with a 326.   This was a tough loss being so close, but we get another chance at them on Thursday in Mankato.  Alyssa Jensen was the medalist again shooting a solid 73 for her best round of the season. She has been amazing this year.  She has been medalist in every golf meet this year except the big9 tourney.  That is unreal.  Whitney Mullenbach continued her good play with an 81, Addison Herr shot her season best of 84, and Ashlyn Berven shot her second best of the season 90.  This was a great round for us and something we should be positive about.  Our season best is something to be proud of today.  It is tough to lose such a close one, but we need to stay positive.
