Minnesota had 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the
week ending October 23, 2022, according to the
USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Favorable weather continued to allow harvest to move
quickly.
Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 18 percent very
short, 36 percent short, 45 percent adequate, and
1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were
rated 15 percent very short, 36 percent short,
48 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.
Corn harvested for grain was at 61 percent, three days
behind last year but about a week ahead of the 5-year
average. Corn moisture content of grain at harvest
averaged 18 percent. Soybeans harvested was at
95 percent, on pace with last year and about two weeks
ahead of the 5-year average.
Sugarbeet harvest was 96 percent complete, two
weeks ahead of the 5-year average. Sunflowers were
35 percent harvested, about five days behind the 5-year
average. Sunflower condition was 0 percent very poor,
0 percent poor, 14 percent fair, 77 percent good, and
9 percent excellent.
Pasture condition was rated 7 percent very poor,
14 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 37 percent good, and
7 percent excellent.
