Harvest continued for select crops despite snow cover over
much of Minnesota dropping the number of days suitable for
fieldwork to 3.2 during the week ending December 8, 2019,
according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Field activities for the week consisted of harvesting corn and
sunflowers. Other field activities included minimal amounts
of fall tillage and fertilizer application as conditions allowed.
Corn harvested for grain reached 93 percent, just over 3 weeks
behind the five-year average. Corn moisture content of grain
at harvest averaged 20 percent, unchanged from the previous
week.
Sunflowers harvested reached 94 percent this week, over
3 weeks behind average.
