Olson makes School History, becoming first Female Tiger Wrestler to advance to State

(Story by Head Coach Tyler Vogt) Today was a great day for Albert Lea Area Wrestling! History was made today as we had our first Girl’s Wrestling State Qualifier with Maggie Olson winning a Section Title at 107 pounds. Maggie has been a true student of the sport, she is an extremely hard worker, and is very goal oriented. We are very proud of Maggie for this tremendous accomplishment!
Here is how she got there.
Round 1: Maggie defeated Taimani Evjen (Byron) by a Fall 2:41
Round 2: Magge defeated Evengelene Chittanavong (Rochester John Marshall) in Overtime 3-2
Round 3: Maggie defeated Isabelle Townly (Owatonna) by a 7-2 Decision
She will be wrestling at the Xcel Energy Center on March 2nd-3rd.
