USC Boys Golf team comes back from 9 stroke deficit after day 1 to advance to State (Interview with Coach Haggen)

USC Boys’ Golf to Compete at State
The United South Central Rebel boys’ golf team competed successfully at Day 2 of the 2022 Section 2A Golf Tournament on Monday, June 6, 2022. The meet took place at North Links Golf Course, outside North Mankato, on yet another pleasant day.
From the original field of thirteen teams, the top four teams advanced to Day 2 of the Section tournament. USC was in 2nd place after Day 1, but they overcame a nine stroke deficit to win by just one stroke—just enough to capture the Section 2A Championship.
Two day team totals are as follows:
1) United South Central 682
2) JWP 683
3) Sleepy Eye United 711
4) Martin County West 740
Individual scores for USC golfers are as follows:
Kadyn Neubauer 79-78=157—3rd place overall
Luke Pederson 82-81=163—6th place overall
Blake Bullerman 93-82=175—11th place overall
Carter Hart 99-88=187—17th place overall
Levi Hinkley 94-99=193—21st place overall
Brennan Anderson 97-103=200—23rd place overall
The two day section golf tournament determines who qualifies for the state tournament. Participants could qualify for the state tournament in one of two ways:
1) All members of the championship place team.
2) The top five individuals that are not members of the championship team
United South Central boys’ golf team won the team competition and will represent Section 2A at the Class A State Golf Tournament next week. They will be competing as a team, but can also qualify for individual honors at the state tournament.
After today’s tournament action, USC’s season record improves to 46-12.
Sophomore Kadyn Neubauer qualified and competed in last year’s state golf tournament, so this will be his second trip to the state tournament. The remaining five Rebel golfers will be participating in their first state tournament.
The Class A State Golf Tournament is a cumulative, 36 hole, two day event that takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14-15, 2022, at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minnesota. All are welcome to attend and there is no admission charged for spectators. Congratulations, Rebels, and good luck at state!
