USC’s Neubauer advances to State Golf Meet

Kadyn Neubauer to Compete at State Golf

Kadyn Neubauer competed successfully at Day 2 of the 2021 Section 2A Golf Tournament on Monday, June 7, 2021.  The meet took place at North Links Golf Course, outside North Mankato, on yet another very hot day.

From a field of twelve teams, the top four teams advanced to Day 2 of the Section tournament.  USC was in 3rd place after Day 1 and they finished in 3rd place after Day 2, as well.  Two day team totals are as follows:

1)      Sleepy Eye United  633 (318-315)

2)      Springfield  682 (341-341)

3)      United South Central  699 (355-344)

4)      JWP  724 (362-362)

Individual scores for USC golfers after 36 holes of play are as follows:

Kadyn Neubauer 85-78=163—8th place overall

Blake Bullerman 86-91=177—tied for 11th place overall

Luke Pederson 93-88=181—tied for 15th place overall

Levi Hinkley 91-101=192—27th place overall

Carter Hart 101-102=203—tied for 29th place overall

The two day section golf tournament determines who qualifies for the state tournament.  Participants could qualify for the state tournament in one of two ways:

1)      All members of the championship place team.

2)      The top five individuals that are not members of the championship team

Sleepy Eye United boys’ golf team won team competition and will represent Section 2A at the state meet next week.

As was noted above, Kadyn finished 8th overall, but three of the top seven finishers were members of the championship team, so Kadyn was the 5th individual qualifier.  He received a medal for his accomplishment and will continue his 2021 golf season at the state tournament next week.  Having just completed his freshman year at USC High School, this will be Kadyn’s first trip to the state tournament.

The Class A State Golf Tournament is a cumulative, two day event that takes place on Tuesday, June 15-16, 2021, at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minnesota.  The participants play 18 holes each day, for a total of 36 holes.  All are welcome to attend and there is no admission charged for spectators
